Drama is an integral part of the curriculum and all boys take part in a school production each year.

Recent school productions include:

  • The Lion King Jr.
  • Macbeth
  • Private Peaceful
  • The Amazing Adventures of Superstan
  • Treasure Island
  • The Tempest
  • Sound School; Parkside’s first original production.

The Drama Department at Parkside maintains an ethos of being inclusive but still having high expectations of pupils. Year groups combine to create a Years 7 and 8 Production in the Autumn Term, a Years 5 and 6 Production in the Spring Term and a Years 3 and 4 Production in the Summer Term.

Performing Arts is an integral part of school life at Parkside. Boys absolutely love their weekly drama lessons where they are given the opportunity to explore a wide range of skills, techniques, games and roles.

All boys take part and make progress regardless of their level of confidence. The drama classroom is a place where all our pupils thrive! There is respect, encouragement, discipline and purpose. This feeds into the wider school curriculum setting up the pathway for Parkside boys to become confident speakers and able team players.

Drama at Parkside is vibrant and current. We encourage our most able students to enter in for Scholarship Drama opportunities at their chosen senior schools and feel proud of the recent success or our boys in this area. You only have to spend a few minutes in any drama class to know that Drama is something that is supported and enjoyed by all.

Each year the Drama Department provides the following opportunities:

  • School Productions or Informal Performance Evenings
  • LAMDA Exams for each year group (Communication: Speaking Verse and Prose)
  • Poetry Competitions for each year group
  • Drama Activities, Movement Workshops and extra rehearsals throughout the year
  • Theatre trips or touring theatre company visits
