About Friends of Parkside

Every parent is an "unofficial" member of the Friends of Parkside (FOP); an association that works to raise funds for the school and for charity, but also to provide a social link for parents where they can share experiences of school life.

In the academic year 2010/2011, FOP contributed funds to:

  • New school mini-busses
  • Wet games play boxes
  • Pre-Prep ride on toys
  • A new piano
  • Picnic and trestle tables
  • New Kyaks
  • Mathletics

In this academic year 2011/2012, we are raising funds to contribute towards:

  • Library resources
  • Classroom interactive whiteboards
  • Science day with visiting scientists
  • Wet break games and DVDs
  • Stop clock for the swimming pool
  • Nursery - listening station with CD players
  • Nursery - playground roadway, hopscotch and number snake

Our chosen charity this year continues to be the Molotlegi Malebye Primary School, in South Africa. Mrs Anne Nkosi, one of our Parkside teachers, has close links with this school. We know that all the money raised will directly benefit the children at the school. There are approximately 200, 6-18 years olds attending the school, in class sizes of around 45 pupils. Our aim this year is to provide these children with resources and new facilities which will enhance their education and give them a chance to have a better future. We hope to be able to do this by starting to raise funds for a library and books and a safe fenced off playground and sports fields. All money raised by FOP for the Molotlegi Malebye School will be on a voluntary basis.

We thank everyone who supports our events throughout the year. With the exception of the charitable donations, all monies raised go straight to the school and nursery, through a variety of projects, and we couldn't do that without your support!
