4th Parkside Triathlon

The sun truly shone on the 4th triathlon to be held at Parkside on Sunday 4th October.  We welcomed close to 100 boys and girls from 15 different schools on a day when temperatures soared and many were keen to jump back into the pool after the race in order to cool off.

The boys and girls raced together over the same course and for the Under 9 section this consisted of a 100m swim, 750m cycle and a 500m run.  The first three girls were Helena Bednall (Danes Hill), followed by Evie Parnham (St Paul’s), with Sevanna Godiksen (Royal Kent) in third place.  The boys were led home by Jordan McPhail (Cranmore), Tom Stannard (Parkside) and Rory Hyatt (KCS).

In the Under 11 age group, the course involved a 120m swim, 1500m cycle and a 750m run.  Darcy Bourne (Danes Hil) made it 4 wins out of 4 at Parkside, followed by Katie Lyons (CLFS) and Olivia Partridge (Eastwick Junior).  Fred Geen (CLFS) led home the boys, closely followed by Jacob Newcombe (The Hawthorns) and Aaron Teale (CLFS).

The Under 13s raced around a 140m swim, 1500m cycle followed by a 1000m run and although there were only two girls competing, they put in impressive performances which would have seen them in 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the boys’ race!  Well done to Isabelle Hyatt and Verity McPhail (Prior’s Field) who were separated by just 2 seconds, with Isabelle crossing the line first.  In the boys’ section, Jamie Wilks (CLFS) completing a hatrick of wins at Parkside, was followed home by James Stanley (CLFS) and Ben Creighton (The Hawthorns).

All competitors were presented with a well-deserved medal and many rubbed shoulders with Olympian, Tim Weeks, who once again came along to lend a hand.  Many thanks to Tim and to all the marshals (and photographers!) who helped on the day.

Please come and join us for the 5th Parkside Triathlon in June!
